Welcome to the Participatory Action Research Eligibility Quiz.
This quiz will help determine if your organization is eligible to apply for any Participatory Action Research (PAR) Grants. Please read the PAR Application Guide carefully and answer the following questions to the best of your ability. * 1. Are you applying as a collaboration between a community organization and a research institution?

* 4. Is your project focused on investigating a specific health issue— physical or mental health—or a clearly defined community-level health outcome?

* 5. Are the communities most affected by the health issue meaningfully shaping and involved in the work?

* 6. What would you like to use the funding for?

To generate ideas and then develop a project plan for a future participatory action research project that can then be submitted to funders.

To investigate a well-articulated health-related research question, and then to share our findings with the community so that it can take action on the health issue in the future.

To fund health research that is led solely by a research institution.

* 7. Is your organization seeking funding for any of the following ineligible activities or expenses?

Funding is NOT intended to support any of the below activities:

Salaries for Institutional Researchers: Salaried researchers with protected research time.

Service or program delivery requests

Program evaluation

Core or Operational Costs: General operating expenses (rent, utilities, admin salaries) unless directly tied to the research.

Retroactive or Pre‑Application Costs: Any expenses incurred before the application date.

Capital or Infrastructure Projects: Buildings, renovations, equipment for general operations.

Events (unless part of a broader project proposal)

Event sponsorships (unless part of a broader project proposal)

Bridge funding

Endowment funds

Operating deficits or after-the-fact support

Debt retirement

Monetary reserves

Mortgage pay-downs

Large capital and public infrastructure projects (e.g. libraries, schools, health care facilities)

Travel to and/or attendance at conferences, competitions, symposia or annual

Bursaries, scholarships, and awards (unless part of a broader project proposal)

Activities deemed not charitable as defined by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA)
